:: A conversation I never thought I'd have with my husband...

Tom: "Where is your nail polish?"
Me: "I don't know if I even have some anymore..."
Tom: "You don't have any nail polish anywhere?!"
Me:  "I don't know, check under the bathroom sink.  Wait, what do you need nail polish for?"
Tom:  "I want to put some on E's nails...make her more girlie."
I wish I got a picture of him actually painting her nails, but this will have to suffice as evidence...
And before anyone attempts to tease Tom about this, keep in mind that he is a NRA-card-holding, handgun-carrying, former American soldier. ;)

:: The best part of waking up is...

folgers in your cup diarrhea on your floor!  Hello!
So, usually mornings here are pretty mundane.  Wake up at 6:30, rouse a sleeping boy to get ready for school, calm a fussy 2yo who just *hates* mornings, tell boy to quit messing around and get dressed about 547 times (conservative estimate), tell 2yo to stop bothering brother so he can get ready for school, make school lunch...yada, yada, yada.  Like I said, normal morning.

:: A Moment of Reflection

You want to know how a huge God-thing is happening? It's when a woman of God meets with tragedy and the blogosphere lights up with prayer and well-wishes in the span of a day.  It's when friends, near and far, rally around and sing her praises as a friend, a mother, a sister, a wife.  It's when she has friends who care deeply for her and lift her up in prayer when she needs it most.  That, my friends, is the work of God's love...being lived out here on this earth.

:: Snow! Finally!

Yesterday we finally got the kind of snow you'd expect here in Denver...just a few months late. I guess this season all the snow is going east.

:: Heartbroken

"Break my heart, God, for what breaks Yours."

I believe God's heart is breaking for the orphan.  I've been struggling lately with the desire to adopt again, and how to reconcile this desire with current family circumstances.  I'm not sure what is ideal anymore, but I do know that now is not the best time for us to consider adoption.  So why is MY heart breaking for the orphans?  What can little insignificant *me* do about it?

:: Happy 2011!

I can't believe how 2010 flew by. Today I reflected on the past year, and realized that I hope 2011 is better. Not because 2010 was all that bad, but because I see the areas where I want things to improve...and what better excuse to get that ball rolling than a new year?  Here's some random goals:
